The vineyards that belonged to Angelo, Mario's brother, a Salesian priest, are those where the cultivation of vines is the oldest. This vineyard consisting of 3700 square meters, grafted in 2001. It includes 1580 vines of Nebbiolo from Barbaresco. Here Federico chose the best Nebbiolo clones to evaluate their oenological characteristics. Thanks to its peculiar pedoclimatic properties, it has a comparatively low production yield: every year it produces our company’s best bunches of Nebbiolo grapes.
"Vignot" is the name by which very small vineyards are often called in Piedmontese. This vineyard is a small plot of land (1700 square meters in area), grafted in 2003. This vineyard tends to be always very dry and therefore produces very rich and concentrated bunches of grapes. In this vineyard Stefano Vacca conducted his experiments in over-ripening the Barbera grape. In the best vintages even from its bunches is possible to obtain the important cru of Superior Barbera (Barbera Superiore), after which it is named.
